Do you have your Montreal Access Card? Save $$$$

If you’re a resident of Montreal and you don’t have a Montreal Access Card, you may be losing out on some great deals.

You could save money on films, concerts and shows, day camps for children, museums, recreation, salons and exhibitions, science centres, sports activities, theatre, and tours and cruises.

Keep in mind that the list may need updating so always check ahead of time to avoid disappointment. Also, there are likely places that take the cards but aren’t listed so if you want to save some money, always ask if they give discounts for the Access card. It doesn’t hurt to ask (the worst they can do is say ‘no’) and you just might end up saving some money.

Cost: The initial cost of the card is 7.00 and the card lasts for a year. Any other family members who live at the same address costs 6.00 but this can be reduced to 5.00 if all the cards are renewed at the same time.

How to get one:

According to their website:

Accès Montréal cards are available at a location close to you:
* local Accès Montréal offices
* several borough offices
* certain libraries
Don’t forget to bring along:
* a recent photo (passport or photo-booth format)
* proof of residence (driver’s license, municipal tax bill, utility bill – Bell, Hydro-Québec, etc.)2 . Leases are not accepted as proof of residence. Montréal taxpayers living outside Montréal must show their property tax bill.
* I.D. card (Medicare or social insurance card, etc.)
For more information and a complete list of sales outlets, please call 311 or (514) 872-0311 (outside Montreal).

Renewal

If you already are an Accès Montréal cardholder, you do not have to go out of your way to have it renewed.

The city w ill be sending you a renewal notice one month prior to your card’s expiration date. You simply fill in the enclosed form and return it, along with your payment.

The city then sends you a sticker for your old Accès card that validates it for another year. If your card is already expired, drop by a sales location to renew your card. You may also drop by an Accès Montréal office to get your sticker.

Montréal agglomeration

Residents of cities that are part of the Montréal agglomeration can obtain an “Agglomeration” Accès Montréal card at an Accès Montréal office or a borough office within Montréal’s city limits. The cost of the card and terms and conditions are the same as for the regular Accès Montréal card.
