Free Jazz Festival Concerts – July 5, 2009
And we’re back with more free concerts for you during the Montreal International Jazz Festival. For July 5:
11 A.M., repeat performances by The little school of jazz at 150 Ste-Catherine Street West – they’re back at 1:30 if you miss them at 11.
At noon, go on over to St. Catherine and Clarke to catch Bharath and his Rhythm Four (you can find them at the same place at 2 P.M and again at 4 P.M. as well) or St. Catherine and Jeanne Mance to see and hear L’orchestre des JazzKidz
at 1 P.M., La fanfare du Belgistan is performing at the Place des Arts esplanade and they repeat at 4:30.
Gadji-Gadjo is performing at the Place des Art esplanade at 2 P.M.
If you go over to Hydro-Québec Park, corner Clark and Sainte-Catherine, you’ll see L’Esprit de la Nouvelle-Orléans at 3 P.M. or you can go over to St. Catherine and Jeanne Mance to see Grand ensemble jazz de Saint-Eustache, also at 3.
At 4 P.M., at Complex Desjardins, Jazz pour emporter is playing.
The evening shows kick off at 7 P.M. when you must make a choice: Adrian Vedady Quartet at Place des Arts esplanade, Steve Strongman at the corner of President Kennedy and de Maisonneuve, The League of Extraordinary Country Gentlemen at Bleury and de Maisonneuve, or Rafaël Zaldivar Quintet at Clarke and St. Catherine. The Quintet will have a repeat performance at 9 P.M.
Not ready to stop yet? How about choosing between Bomba! at the Clark parking at 8 P.M. or Jesse Dee at St. Catherine and Jeanne Mance.
At 9 P.M. at Scene General Motors, there’s Patrick Watson or you can go to The Stomp All-Stars at Complex Desjardins (repeat performance at 11).
10 P.M. brings you Kalmunity at the Clarke parking
11 P.M. gives you John Roney / Jim Doxas Trio at 305 St. Catherine West.
