Creations and Stuff is presenting a fund raising event for Reach for the Stars Animal Rescue.

What: A “Garage Sale” of items from the Creations and Stuff atelier will also be sold and 10% of proceeds to go to Reach for the Stars.

Not only is it a regular garage sale, but also the Elegant garage sale!  Full of surpises!  So don’t miss out!
List of items:  painted furniture, second hand furniture, lamps, standing lamps, lampshades, material, aromatherapy products (a hobby that I just don’t have time for anymore), odds and ends, nik nacks.

When: August 1, 2009 from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. or until all the merchandise is gone.
Where: 705 ave. Laporte, Montreal

Click on the link to see where Laporte is. It’s below St. Antoine Ouest, east of St Henri metro station but west of Rosa de Lima.

People who know me know that our dogs always came to us as adults. We took in a 2-yr-old golden retriever who ended up being my husband’s heart dog. Rox, our golden, died when he was only 9 years old but he gave us the best 7 years ever. Oscar was a greyhound we adopted/rescued, whatever you want to call it, a few months after Rox left us. Coming to us from the States when he was 2 yrs old, he had been pegged as a greyhound who wouldn’t win any races. Sadly, he only lived 3 years with us before he died at age 5 from cancer. Oscar was my heart dog and has his own book, Oscar’s Diaries, Life as a Retired Greyhound.

My most recent dog friend was Dee. She was a 9-yr-old greyhound who had been kept as a brood mom. She had three litters and had never lived in a house before. We arranged for her to come live in our home and she lived with us, like the queen she thought she was, for 9 months and 17 days before she, too passed on.

Many dogs (and cats) need homes – they’ve been found or dumped and are now living in shelters, waiting for someone else to take them in and give them a forever home. Although puppies and kittens are cute, taking in an older animal is just as special. If you can find the space and time to take in an older pet, you’ll be rewarded in ways you can’t imagine. And if you take in a senior, like Dee, you know your time is short, but the love and knowledge that you’ve made those last months or years the best they could be make up for the short time.
