Montreal’s Mix’Arts Festival, a festival that closes the main streets of the city for vendors, art and music for 4 days of the year has invited Pop Montreal, an internationally renowned music festival and event organizer to present in conjunction with Yahoo! Quebec, Kids Pop.

On Sunday, August 30th starting at 2pm, Parc des Amériques (located at Rachel and St-Laurent) will be home to Kids Pop, a celebration of family fun activities and crafts and kid-friendly music.

Parc des Amériques will be transformed into an outdoor amphitheater and activity centre, showcasing the best of Montreal’s emerging music scene and projects that’ll keep your kids busy and messy.

The phenomenal performers on stage throughout the day will be:

Kara Keith (2pm)
Eclectic artist Kara Keith gives a spine-tingling performance, with her awesomely ego-free performance art. Her angular piano-driven pop songs will get the kids on their feet and grooving!

Katie Moore (3pm)
Moore’s aching croon is as irresistible as the mellow twang of her melodies, played by Warren Spicer of Plants and Animals. Folk country for a gentle waltz at sunset.

Lederhosen Lucil (4pm)
She’s back – in lederhosen! Lucil will entertain and rock the kids with her danceable beats and super-fun singalong melodies that will get everyone busting moves!

SoCalled (Magic Show) (5pm)
Who doesn’t love a magic show? Socalled’s wizardry is going to blow you away, and make you head to the nearest joke shop to learn the art of illusion.

Alongside the musical and magical performances, Yahoo! Quebec and Pop Montreal will be offering a slew of purple themed crafts and workshops with local artists.

Purple Tie-Dye workshops lead by Katie Jung will lead you through safe and natural bucket dying techniques. The colorful garments will be hung to dry along the streets of the festival acting as a decorative reminder of the workshop. Participants can retrieve their brand spankin’ new items once they’re dry.

The Purple Power station will hone in on your child’s inner super hero. The Purple Power station, lead by animator, actor and artist Logan MacDonald, will provide supplies to create dynamic, alter-ego masks and interactive activities to help unleash your little masked avengers’ secret powers.

Kids can rock out to the music performed on Kids Pop stage with their very own papier-maché guitar, decorated with the heaps of flashy and glittery art supplies provided at the Play It Purple station, lead by artist and videographer Tracy Maurice. Air guitar no more, these hand crafted guitars will be the envy of the amphitheater.

Not only will your kids have the instruments to rock, they’ll have the look locked down. Purple and Punk is a makeover station providing temporary tattoos, temporary purple hair dying and outrageous hair-do’s styled by the students at the Tornade Hair Academy.

Be sure to capture all your new looks, crafts and costumes at the Yahoo! Flickr Purple Pictures Photo Booth

Open to all festival goers for free during all 4 days of the Mix’Arts festival, The Purple Pictures Photo Booth will be located directly at street level on St. Laurent at Rachel. All passers by will have the opportunity to have their solo or group photos taken against a super fun, pop-art inspired backdrop with a tickle trunk full of wild hats, wigs and costumes to adorn. The Purple Picture station will also grant anyone with their own camera to share and caption their photos on a group Flickr site, to be entered into a prize winning contest.

Representatives from Bunch family will be co-ordinating and overseeing the Pop Kids’ festivities on the Sunday, and will be stationed at the Yahoo! Flickr Purple Pictures Photo Booth throughout the 4 day Mix’Arts festival with out raffle table loaded with awesome prizes.
