Dance parties for little kids and their parents happening in hot nightclubs on weekend afternoons have become a global phenomenon, with versions in cultural hub cities like Paris, New York, L.A., London, Dubai and Toronto.

On Sunday, October 4th, Yahoo! Quebec and the POP Montreal International Music Festival bring the fun to Montreal with the Purple Dance Party for Kids, a free-of-charge, deejayed family affair, where kids and parents can shake it on the dance floor side-by-side. But in the spirit of Montreal and the Pop Music Festival, the Purple Dance Party offers something more, making it arguably the coolest kids party on earth.

In addition to deejays DL Jones and SHAYDAkiss, this Purple Dance Party features a stacked lineup of top local and international indie musicians playing live sets for kids and parents to groove to together. Featured performers include numéro#, Socalled, the William Blakes and 13-year-old rapper P-Star, who is a cast member of the new Electric Company TV show on PBS Kids Go!
As well, kids (and parents) can let their inner idols out, backed by a live karaoke band (URockaoke) and take part in the interactive jam session that will be attempted as a grand finale. The party is hosted by Montreal’s Dishwasher (AKA Martin Cesar from the band Think About Life) and kids and parents will be joined on the dance floor by members of the local crew, Ghetto Nest.

Yahoo Québec and POP want make sure Purple Dance Party experience is free of hassle and worry for Montreal families! Therefore music will be played at safe sound levels for little ears, change tables will be installed in the Metropolis bathrooms, song lyrics will be appropriate for a young audience and both juice for kids and beer for non-driving adults will be on offer!
