Sunday Discovery Workshops for Kids: Redpath Museum

Looking for something entertaining and educational for your family? Here’s a weekly series for you at the McGill University’s Redpath Museum.

The Museum is open on Sunday afternoons for visits by individuals or families. Sunday afternoons are also a special time, because we offer family workshops where young children can be introduced to science in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

  • There are three sessions every Sunday for ALL ages.
    12h30 – 13h30 OR 14h – 15h OR 15h30 – 16h30
  • Children : 6 $ each, FREE for parents.
    PLEASE BRING CORRECT CHANGE.
    The workshop includes a craft.

  • September 20 (in French): Les volcans — Venez apprendre tout sur les volcans et les roches volcaniques, et créez votre propre éruption volcanique!
  • September 27 (in English): Dinosaurs of Canada
    Uncover the dinosaurs that roamed Canada 60 million years ago. Make a dinosaur footprint fridge magnet!
  • October 4 (in French): Les météorites – Quelle est la différence entre les météores et les météorites? Faites un bricolage hors de ce monde!
  • October 18 (in English): Mermaids and Mermen – Explore the legends associated with these mysterious creatures.
  • October 25 (in French): Momies égyptiennes et momification – Déchiffrer les secrets des momies d’Égypte! Faites votre propre momie.
  • November 1 (in English): Deep Sea Creatures – We know more about outer space than we do about our own oceans! Uncover the secrets of the abyss. Create a strange deep-sea animal!
  • November 15 (in French): Les crânes humains à travers le temps – Venez découvrir l’évolution de l’homme. Créez une squelette!
  • November 22 (in English): Volcanoes – Learn all about volcanoes, volcanic bombs and fiery eruptions. Make your very own volcanic eruption!
  • November 29 (in French): Les dinosaures du Canada – Les dinosaures qui habitaient le Canada il y a 60 millions d’années seront dévoilés aujourd’hui! Fabriquez une empreinte de dinosaure magnétique.
  • December 6 (in English): Watch your Bark! Have you ever seen clothes made from tree bark? We’ll look at how the peoples
    of the South Pacific make cloth from bark, and see how to make dyes to print
    with, and then  “stamp” our own cloth!
  • December 13 (in French): Animaux pré.historiques - Découvrez les mammouths, les mastodonts et les tigres à dents de sabres!
