If you’ve not had a chance to get out to a county fair yet, here’s your last chance and it’s a great one at that. The Brome County Fair has lots of exhibits, shows, animals, food, and midway rides. The admission includes the rides.

ShazamFest, July 29-31, 2011, in the Eastern Townships

What? You’ve never heard of ShazamFest? Where have you been over the past five years? No matter, you have a chance to check out their sixth edition of burlesque, rockabilly, skateboarding, and wrestling – maybe all at the same time.

It’s an hour and a half from Montreal, but worth the trip. It’s free for children 12 years old and younger. If you’re into camping, that is free too. Parking is 5.00, but if you have a weekend pass, that is free too.

Ormstown Fair – June 9 to 12, 2011.

It’s fair time! Just an hour from Montreal is the historic Ormstown fair with very reasonable rates and lots of fun things to do.

While the admission fee doesn’t cover the cost of the midway rides, there are plenty of other things to see and do that don’t cost extra. Visit the exhibitions, listen to the music, meet up with friends and just have fun. Go to their website for more information on the entertainment and directions how to get there.

Walk To Bethlehem is a theatrical excursion back to the time just before Christ’s birth, two-thousand years ago. You will be escorted through Bethlehem by one of our friendly guides, who will protect you from Roman soldiers, beggars and thieves. You will meet Shepherds, Wiseman, and even Angels before finding the Baby Jesus in the Manger.

A real country fair not far from Montreal – the Ormstown fair has been in existence since 1910 and the tradition continues. From arts and crafts to livestock, midway rides and games, baked goods, and more.

Ormstown is a one-hour drive south of Montreal and well worth the trip. Plus, the weekend weather is boding well!

“Mont Saint Bruno (30 minutes from Montreal) has a special on Sunday nights starting after 5 pm: 10$ for lift tickets and 17$ to rent snowboard or skis. It’s incredibly cheap & a pretty good mountain to go to with a great snowparc.”

Boston Bruins (Old timers), Oct. 24th, in Kahnawake

If you take the time to come over to Kahanwake (just over the Mercier bridge, before Chateauguay), you can spend 20.00 to watch the Boston Bruins Old-timers play against a Kahnawake all-star team.

The teams played last year and the game was enormously popular. This year’s fundraiser is to raise money for Kateri Memorial Hospital Foundation and K103 Radio.

Tickets for the 3 p.m. game, $20 general admission, are available at various points in Kahnawake. But, due to the popularity and limited seating, it would be best to buy in advance at the Sports Complex ticket booth or Goodleaf Auto, both on Route 138.
