Old Montreal is bringing us something new this year, a traditional international Christmas village at Place Jacques-Cartier.

On Sundays to Wednesdays, from noon to 6 pm and Thursdays to Saturdays, from noon to 9 pm, you can visit shacks that celebrate the holidays from all over the world. There will be music, food tasting, dancing, and contests. Don’t miss this event in the heart of our old town.

The fireworks at the Old Port begins this Saturday, December 3, 2011. In all honesty, I completely forgot about it and Evelyn Reid, over at About.com is the one who reminded me by posting the information and she also mentions something about Fire Dancing So, I’m going to send you over there to see the schedule since she’s done the work. Fair is fair, righ?

Back for its second year, the McCord Museum is presenting Toys 2, an interactive family exhibit.

According to their website:

Toys 2 is back in force with a brand new concept that will not only allow visitors to discover hundreds of toys from the Museum’s collection, but will also take them on a fascinating hunt…for mice! Toys 2 features a rousing game of cat and mouse for winter fun, where visitors, outfitted with a magnifying glass, will be called on to help the cat in her chase via four entertaining themes. It’s a thoroughly engaging way to view more than 200 toys (a few of which date back almost 150 years) drawn from the some 11,000 treasures that are part of the Museum’s collections.

Admission for children under age 12 is free and don’t forget – Every Wednesday evening, the admission is free for everyone, young and old. Also, until December 31, admission is also free for everyone and the first Saturday of each month.

If you missed the big parade last week or you just can’t get enough of Christmas and Santa Claus parades, fear not – Plaza St. Hubert is putting on its 7th annual parade on November 25, at 7 pm. Evening parades can be a lot of fun because of the magic of Christmas lights that just can’t happen during the day.

This smaller parade is more personal and some say more fun. The parade kicks off at the corner of Bellechasse et Saint-Hubert. It ends at Jean-Talon.

Enter the magical world of Christmas Eve with a reading of Clement Clark Moore’s famous story, The Night Before Christmas.

This story has inspired numerous illustrators and forever changed our image of the character who hands out presents to good children.

And we’re off! Holiday season is approaching and why not start it with the 61st annual Santa Claus parade down St. Catherine? It begins at du Fort and ends at St. Urbain.

The merchants also have online a schedule of events so you can know what is happening where during the holiday season.

The parade will be held on Saturday, November 19, starting at 11 a.m., and head east. If you can’t attend the parade but still want to enjoy it, according to the website, it will be on TV as well:

The Santa Claus Parade will air on the TVA network on Sunday, November 20, at 5 p.m., with simultaneous broadcast on Yoopa, and rebroadcast on TVA on Saturday, December 10, at 5 p.m. and others re-broadcast on Yoopa (Check your TV guide).
