The fireworks at the Old Port begins this Saturday, December 3, 2011. In all honesty, I completely forgot about it and Evelyn Reid, over at About.com is the one who reminded me by posting the information and she also mentions something about Fire Dancing So, I’m going to send you over there to see the schedule since she’s done the work. Fair is fair, righ?

Did you enjoy last year’s Zombie Walk? Did you have to miss it because of a prior commitment? Did you not know about it? Well, here’s your opportunity to participate in this year’s Zombie Walk!

When? Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 3:30 P.M.

At first glance, it may seem that this event is a bit pricey but take into account that it is an all-afternoon trip and you walk away with a big bag of apples. Maybe the price will make sense then. A fun afternoon taking the train and enjoying the outdoors with your family and/or friends.

THE APPLE ORCHARD TOUR
A perennial favourite in our schedule, the Apple Orchard Tours take place every year in different orchards around the Lower Laurentians. Bring your lunch basket and enjoy an al fresco picnic. The train takes you safely and comfortably home with your bag of fresh-picked apples. Five-pound bag of apples included for kids 6 to 12 years of age, and a ten-pound bag for anyone 13 or older.

There’s one trip this coming Saturday, Sept. 3.

Find out all about pumpkins and other members of the gourd family. You will finally be able to tell a pumpkin from a winter squash! A snack will be offered (squash-based, of course) as well as a drink. If your outing is on a Saturday, make sure you bring a lunch basket and so you can picnic with the fall foliage for a backdrop. An offering of the Redpath Museum:

A family-friendly walking tour of the fossils, minerals and secret spots found in the walls of some of downtown Montreal’s proudest institutions. The tour starts at the Redpath Museum (859 Sherbrooke Street West) and returns along Sherbrooke Street west from the Beaux Arts Museum. All ages welcome. In english. Reservation necessary. $12 adult regular, $7 senior/student/child. Includes a copy of the popular booklet What Building Stones Tell. Boat Show, Until September 10, 2011

This was supposed to be posted yesterday, but didn’t make it through for some reason.

Another free event for you down at the Port, a boat show at the Jacques Cartier Pier.

Friday: from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Unlike the boat shows that take place in Place Bonaventure or the Congress centre, these boats are in their natural environment – the water!

Brome County Fair, Sept. 2-5, 2011

If you’ve not had a chance to get out to a county fair yet, here’s your last chance and it’s a great one at that. The Brome County Fair has lots of exhibits, shows, animals, food, and midway rides. The admission includes the rides.
