The Museum is open on Sunday afternoons for visits by individuals or families. Sunday afternoons are also a special time, because we offer family workshops where young children can be introduced to science in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

• November 22 (in English): Volcanoes – Learn all about volcanoes, volcanic bombs and fiery eruptions. Make your very own volcanic eruption!

• November 29 (in French): Les dinosaures du Canada – Les dinosaures qui habitaient le Canada il y a 60 millions d’années seront dévoilés aujourd’hui! Fabriquez une empreinte de dinosaure magnétique.

• December 6 (in English): Watch your Bark! Have you ever seen clothes made from tree bark? We’ll look at how the peoples
  of the South Pacific make cloth from bark, and see how to make dyes to print
  with, and then  “stamp” our own cloth!

• December 13 (in French): Animaux pré.historiques - Découvrez les mammouths, les mastodonts et les tigres à dents de sabres!

What: To celebrate 40 years since the famous bed-in for peace, an exhibit called Imagine: The Peace Ballad of John & Yoko. John Lennon and Yoko Ono checked into Montreal’s Queen Elizabeth Hotel at midnight on May 26, 1969 (hey! that’s my birthday, but not the year). The exhibit is showing over 100 works of art (drawings, videos and artwork).

When: Starting this coming Thursday, April 2nd until June 21. 2009.

Over at the McCord Museum, there’s a whimsical exhibition for families as Robert Munsch’s characters are brought to life. It’s also an interactive event because visitors can – and are encouraged to – read, write, and tell their own stories.

According to the press release, "Word puzzles, building blocks, and even a poetry garden: celebrated author of Princess in a Paper Bag, Robert Munsch invites kids 12 and under on a whimsical tour of his imaginary house, where creativity and fun abound!"

When: The show began on November 14, 2008 and runs until April 26, 2009.

You can view the Redpath’s exhibits collections relating to  paleontology, zoology, minerology and ethnology. The museum also offers children’s Sunday workshops.

Admission to the museum is free, for the workshops, the charge is 6.00 per child and free for parents.
