Montreal SPCA – Can MOTC Readers Help Them Out?

Montreal is a great city, full of fun events and activities for everyone. In an effort to give back, sometimes MOTC posts appeal for help or announcements of importance to the Montreal community. Here is one for you, from the Montreal SPCA. I volunteer there as a dog walker. It’s great fun and wonderful exercise. But if you can’t volunteer, they also need some donations of dog and cat toys, and a few other things. This is all to help them continue to provide the best care possible for the animals who find themselves sheltered at the Jean Talon facility.
An email sent out earlier today said:
Dear Supporters,
The SPCA is reaching out for the community for some help and donations in equipment to improved the quality of life for our animals and to maintain good care provided to them. Whether new of used, we accept donations as long as they are in good working order.
Here our wish list:
1- A dryer
2- Dishwasher
3- Some cds with sounds of nature to place in the adoption rooms for the animals
4- Old cd players
5- Some rope toys for dogs
6- Toys for cats
Thank you so much for your help!
If you can help, please contact Louise Allard, Volunteer coordinator at lallard @ spcamontreal.com
Keep Track of Montreal Rinks, Winter 2010/11

If you like skating outside but don’t like arriving at the rink to find the ice isn’t usable, take a look at this free service website that keeps track of Montreal outdoor skating rinks: patinermontreal.ca.
Part of Montreal fun in the winter is taking advantage of what the weather has to offer. If it’s cold, we might as well ski or skate – after all, it’s a long winter for many of us. Have a look. This site is part of what Montreal activities and fun is all about: Montrealers helping Montrealers.
Montreal on the Cheap Contest – January 2010

Ok Montrealers and those who are coming to Montreal for a visit – here’s something for you.
MOTC can’t do all the bargain hunting on its own and we need input from people who know Montreal inside out or those who just happened upon a great deal.
So, if you want to help us out here, you could win a 20.00 gift card from Chapters/Indigo (or Amazon if you prefer).
What we’re looking for:
Inexpensive ways to have fun in Montreal. Or free. They can be for children, families or adults only, but the information and topics have to be suitable for a site that anyone can visit.
Have a browse through the site to see what types of events have been posted already to get a good idea of what we promote.
Examples: Free activities, inexpensive movies, discounted events, well-priced restaurants.
Inexpensive doesn’t have to mean dirt cheap if it’s a significant discount. For example, if a show generally sells tickets for 75 dollars but is discounting some for a particular group of people to 40 dollars – that’s a significant savings.
We’ll post your ideas as they come up and at the end of the month, a random draw (by randomizer.org) will determine who wins the gift certificate.
You may enter as many times as you wish, but please don’t repeat your ideas. Also, “a walk in the park down the street” won’t really qualify unless there are details of what people can do at that particular park.
Ready?
Let’s get started and have some fun! You can leave your comments here or email us at Marijke/Montreal On The Cheap.
